2021 was a year of cooler ripening conditions and some rain, resulting in a more delicate, restained style. These vines were planted in in 1980 - some of the oldest Chardonnay in our region.
The juice was gently pressed to french oak barrels - a mix of new, 1st and 2nd fill to give around 30% new oak. Indigenous yeasts completed fermentation in around 21 days and the wine was matured for 12 months on solids. This is a powerful, balanced and vibrant expression of Chardonnay from our vineyard - the pure, white-peach fruit underscored by subtle spicy oak and enhanced with wild-ferment funk.
