2014 Pinot Noir

2014 Pinot Noir

2014 may be remembered as one of the most challenging vintages to date; frost in late Spring & unsettled conditions over flowering resulted in low fruit set and a modest crop.
What followed was our hottest & driest Summer on record, followed by our wettest Autumn on record.
Despite this, our Pinot Noir vines held their modest crop beautifully and we picked fully ripe, disease-free fruit in late April.

This wine shows classic cool-climate Pinot Noir characters; aromas of cherries, beetroot and spice with a hint of charry oak from maturation in 20% new French oak.
This is a much more delicate wine than hotter vintages (like the 2013) and we would suggest cellaring until December 2015 before drinking.

Attractive poached strawberry and some blue fruit notes too; lose leaf black tea and background spices here. The palate has supple, fleshy and smooth texture. Really succulent, ripe slippery tannins and a mellow, soft finish. Drink now.
