Chardonnay - 2011; $35 SOLD OUT

2011 was a challenging year - with our annual rainfall falling in the 3 months September, October and November 2010. However, with careful management and our Biodynamic farming practices, we were able to keep the Lark Hill Vineyard clean and disease free without chemical inputs.

A cool Summer and mild Autumn resulted in a return to our normal long-term average heat summation, giving delicate flavours, vibrant acidity and a lower final alcohol. This wine was wild-fermented in older french oak (with 10% new oak) and matured on ferment lees for 8 months to build texture, complexity and creaminess. Aromas of peach, nectarines, almond-meal and gun-flint are backed up by a rich but balanced palate. Drink now or cellar for 10+ years.

Vibrant green hue; a taut citrus and mineral accented wine, with a linear and tightly wound palate; while there is plenty of acidity, the fruit is lying in wait as time will see it reveal a mealy and complex example; incredibly refreshing and precise. 94 Points
